Re-fitting the Malt Shovel Pub, Harsthill

…after the 2017 fire destroyed it.

Back in May 2017 the press (local to Hartshill, Warwickshire) was talking about the fire which destroyed the popular and thriving Malt Shovel pub in the village.

Today the local press is talking about the success of the place after it has re-opened and the great food they serve.

In between the pub / restaurant has been completely refurbished including the installation from scratch of a new kitchen, food prep areas and cold store / freezer rooms. Paul Surman of Tower project managed the refit (of the kitchen related areas only). Collaborating with Phil (@ Crocodile Catering) throughout the project proved, as ever, to be both great fun and highly effective. Starting from scratch the new kitchen is a considerable improvement on the old.

The pictures show the state of the place after the fire damage had been cleared and the progression through to the finished job.

“I have known Paul @ Tower Commercial Catering for years. I know him as an engineer (and former chef) and didn’t immediately think of him when we needed help project managing the kitchen re-fit after we were burnt out a year or so ago. But someone else recommended him and when he started I knew I had picked a winner.

He managed everything for us and, because he is so capable technically (a qualified commercial catering engineer and a former chef), he kept the contractors on track no problem. His expertise helped us get the project completed quicker than it otherwise would have been and kept the costs down too.

Thanks Paul, a great job!”
